This field is required by higher level consumers of cluster-api. Example use case is cluster autoscaler with cluster-api as provider. Clean-up logic in the autoscaler compares machines to nodes to find out machines at provider which could not get registered as Kubernetes nodes. With cluster-api as a generic out-of-tree provider for autoscaler, this field is required by autoscaler to be able to have a provider view of the list of machines. Another list of nodes is queried from the k8s apiserver and then a comparison is done to find out unregistered machines and are marked for delete. This field will be set by the actuators and consumed by higher level entities like autoscaler that will be interfacing with cluster-api as generic provider.

updatedReplicas

UpdatedReplicas is the number of non-terminated Control Plane Machines created by the ControlPlaneMachineSet controller that have the desired provider spec and are ready. This value is set to 0 when a change is detected to the desired spec. When the update strategy is RollingUpdate, this will also coincide with starting the process of updating the Machines. When the update strategy is OnDelete, this value will remain at 0 until a user deletes an existing replica and its replacement has become ready.

lastTransitionTime

string

lastTransitionTime is the last time the condition transitioned from one status to another. This should be when the underlying condition changed. If that is not known, then using the time when the api field changed is acceptable.

message

string

message is a human readable message indicating details about the transition. This may be an empty string.

observedGeneration

integer

observedGeneration represents the .metadata.generation that the condition was set based upon. For instance, if .metadata.generation is currently 12, but the .status.conditions[x].observedGeneration is 9, the condition is out of date with respect to the current state of the instance.

reason

string

reason contains a programmatic identifier indicating the reason for the condition’s last transition. Producers of specific condition types may define expected values and meanings for this field, and whether the values are considered a guaranteed api. The value should be a CamelCase string. This field may not be empty.

status

string

status of the condition, one of True, False, Unknown.

type

string

type of condition in CamelCase or in foo.example.com/CamelCase. --- Many .condition.type values are consistent across resources like Available, but because arbitrary conditions can be useful (see .node.status.conditions), the ability to deconflict is important. The regex it matches is (dns1123SubdomainFmt/)?(qualifiedNameFmt)
